Weekend mishaps.
Diabetes happens everywhere when you have it. And sometimes, you’re in a crowded bar with your friends, minding your own business when someone brushes by a liiiiitle too close and RIP! There goes your OmniPod pump. What’s a girl to do when her insulin pump gets ripped off right before she’s about to hit the [...]
The Guilt Group.
Guilt is a part of having diabetes. Anyone with diabetes has packed their bags for the guilt trip that comes almost daily with having this disease. There’s small guilt, like when you have a bad glucose reading, or you knowingly eat more than you bolused for. Then there’s medium-sized guilt, like when an A1c comes [...]
Tiny pillows. And tickets.
This is going to be a random blog post about two random things because it’s a random-feeling type of day. And also because these are two things that only a person with diabetes would ever think of, so you guys are really the only peeps who are going to get either of these. Random item [...]
Sock it to me!
At some point in our life with diabetes, all of us hear that we need to take special care of our feet. But at the mere mention of items like “diabetic socks,” or “diabetic shoes,” all I can think of is medical-themed, hideous-looking orthopedic Croc-like crap that I would never in a million years wear. [...]
Eye got it!
Want to know why this is the most exciting post I’ve ever written? Because I’m writing it, seeing the computer and the words appear without the use of contact lenses or glasses. Holy. Smokes. This is rad. I’ve had poor vision for as long as I can remember. I come from a long line of [...]
Happy President’s Day!
I hope you are not working, because I’m not! Back tomorrow with loads of d-goodies for ya!
It’s still so good.
Hey there folks! Thanks to the miracle of modern blogging software, I’ve written this post on Wednesday and set it to auto-publish today because with any luck, right now I’m on the couch, listening to an audiobook while pumped up on pain meds recovering from (hopefully successful!) vision correction surgery! For your Friday viewing enjoyment, [...]
See ya!
Finally, after almost two weeks of intense blood sugar management, one removed chalazion cyst, what seemed like 37 different eye measurements, and of course, 18 years of having horrible vision, I’m heading under the…laser today for my PRK vision correction surgery. Posts will be light for the next few days because, well, I won’t be [...]
Ruled out.
I once heard from a friend of mine that someone with diabetes had said to her ”if you follow the rules, managing this disease isn’t so hard.” I don’t know the person that said that, but I do know that I disagree with him wholeheartedly. Rules? Diabetes doesn’t play by the rules. Diabetes cheats, sneaks, [...]
Slam Dunk.
Yeah. That happened. A day where I ate so healthy, so low-carb, that I took ZERO units of bolus insulin. Remember how I said I like to document things that don’t happen often (or EVER!?). That’s what’s up.
