Logging and jogging…
Yesterday I stacked up three (count ‘em!) doctor’s appointments in a row because all of those docs happened to be in the same building. I went to see my CDE first (along with my 5 pages of excel data as noted below), then the hand doctor for a post-op, then the knee doctor for a [...]
I didn’t get an “Analyst” title for nothin…
Endo appointment is tomorrow morning and the dreaded A1c shall be revealed – wish me luck! (Also wish my doctor good luck because this is one of 5 pages of Excel spreadsheet logging….he’s lucky I didn’t run a pivot table on this data).
A symphony of glucose meters…
Last night was TCOYD’s annual Type 1 night here in San Diego, and nothing says “Diabuddies” like a room full of Type 1s. Last year I was part of the speaker’s panel, and had given insight to emotional and lifestyle barriers I had when transitioning to a pump from MDI. Now one year strong into [...]
A1c coming up - The Summer Edition
Ahhh here we go with the nerves again! A1c results will be revealed on Thursday, and I really don’t know what to expect! I’ve had some great days recently, and some really crappy ones (what’s new in diabetes, right?). More than ever, I’ve been feeling the pressure to get within goal of under 7%, but [...]
Charlie, my hero.

Carey Potash has chronicled his life as a parent to his Type 1 son, Charlie. The following is a post written by Charlie, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just [...]
My Endo’s waiting room - like one giant diabetic hug.
I love the waiting room at my Endo’s office. I popped in there this morning to get my blood drawn for my A1c (aaaaahhhh!!!) in preparation for next week’s visit. I look around the room and share smiles with other people with diabetes. I see girls like me in their 20s dressed for work, with [...]
Oh COME ON!
My knee is killing me from half marathon training. I did 11 miles on Friday and my right knee has been throbbing ever since. So I made an appointment to see my orthopod next week, iced the crap out of it, and against my stubborn ‘tude, decided to lay off the running for a bit. My options are still [...]
Nick Jonas continues to be a ‘betes SupaStar
Nick Jonas has proved himself to be a true diabetes champion yet again with his recent dLife interview that aired this past Sunday. It is amazing that at such a young age and such a short time with diabetes (he was only diagnosed in 2005!), Nick has already taken on the burden of being a diabetes [...]
This is why I am a compulsive list maker…
I feel nekkid today. I took my pump off because my pod expired today (Thursday), and I am doing a 5k Mud Run on Saturday (I know, I have problems). If I put a pod on today, and took it off Saturday, I’d be wasting a full day of the pod, and since I came [...]
Step right up!
Hi, welcome to the Diabetes Information Booth, your comprehensive resource for diabetes facts, unsolicited advice, and overly defensive scientific explanations of commonly held diabetes stereotypes. Ahhhhhh can’t shut up! Sometimes, I turn in to the Diabetes Information Booth and can’t seem to turn off the compulsive spewing of diabetes facts. Oftentimes this occurs when I [...]
