Renew lancing device…not for cheaters
I love checking out new gadgets for diabetes management, so when I saw the slick “Renew” lancing device in a glossy magazine ad, I had to go get one. Available at Target, the round lancing device holds 20 lancets in each refillable cartridge, so there’s no fumbling with a new loose lancet each time you test. Also, you don’t have to figure out where to dispose of your used individual lancet each time, since the whole cartridge pops in and out. It also has adjustable depths so you can pick your poke. This is similar to my favorite lancing device - the Accu-Check Multi-Clix. What I like most about this product is that it makes one of those annoying things about diabetes (re-loading lancets) less of an issue. What I didn’t like that is that in order to use the device, you have use a new lancet - when you pull the handle back to ready the device, it loads a new one automatically. Now now now, I know I’m supposed to use a new lancet and syringe every time, I also know I am supposed to use an alcohol swab every time I change my OmniPod, and change the needle cap on my Symlin pen every time too. Guess what folks? I don’t always do it. Sometimes I am too busy/lazy/over it to do the right thing, even though I know that could present a risk. This device got me thinking about the concept of “cheating on your diabetes….” We all do it from time to time, sometimes just to take a break, sometimes because we’re angry, and sometimes for no good reason it all. How about you all? Leave a comment and tell us when you “cheat on your diabetes.”

Slick lookin, ain't it?

Hello outstanding website! Does running a blog like this require a great deal of work?
I’ve absolutely no expertise in programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future. Anyway, should you have any suggestions or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off topic however I simply wanted to ask. Cheers!
