Some lists…

Things in Asia I could use more of in my general life:

1. Delicious food that only costs $1, available on most street corners.
2. Inordinate levels of excitement at my attempt to speak a foreign language (e.g. clapping, thumbs up, “good!!!” at the mere mention of “hello” in Thai/Lao/Vietnamese).
3. The ability to travel safely and comfortably on trains and buses (San Diego needs to get it together in this department…)
4. Free breakfast with your hotel room. Like an awesome, two-egg-omelette-made-to-order-with-toast-and-bacon-and-fruit-and-coffee-FREE breakfast with your $15 hotel room!
5. Laundry service for $2 available everywhere. They even fold your underwear. Seriously.
6. Pho. So good.

Things I don’t need more of, here in Asia or anywhere else…:

1. Hotel rooms where the toilet and shower are in the same, open room, with no door separating them. When you shower, everything in the entire bathroom gets wet.
2. On the subject of toilets, pit toilets are generally no fun at all, and I don’t understand why instead of toilet paper, there’s just a little shower sprayer next to you…this defies the needs required post bio-break….I’ll let you just imagine the rest of all that.
3. Being asked if I’d like a taxi/massage/boat ride/custom suit on every corner. My answer has been the same for two months now.
4. Pho. So bad for the blood sugar.

That’s all for now.
