The end of cargo pants as we know them?

The ‘betes “kit.” You know what I mean. The black, nylon, zippered case you keep your testing supplies in. Yep that thing. The little kit that forces men to find pants with big pockets and women to find larger purses to stash ‘em in. You can’t leave home without it, but you can’t stand its medical look and feel, so you try to get creative. You cram your insulin pens into that cool-looking cloth pouch you got in Mexico, even though they don’t really fit. You jingle the change in your right pocket and your meter, lancer, and test strip bottle in your left, while your iPhone gets sat on in your back pocket. You take 5 test strips out and let them float to the bottom of that cute evening clutch that matches your dress, later forgetting which ones are new and which ones are used. You know what I’m talking about: carrying all the crap that us folks with diabetes have to worry about!

MyabeticThank goodness for innovative companies like Myabetic. Myabetic is a new diabetes-gear company that is ready to make testing cases fashionable and functional. Sure, sure, there’s companies out there that have vowed to make your kit “cute,” but “cute” doesn’t translate into professional, active, and personalized.

Enter Myabetic. Taking cues from the latest trends in fashion and synergizing that with input from real patients (including co-founder Kyrra Richards who is a real, live, diabetic that has test-driven all products!), this brand has finally come up with products that real men and women with diabetes will want to carry. Check out the Sierra, for example, pictured to the rightSierra Flat here in red. It’s cut in the popular “wristlet” style, and has compartments for everything from a CGM unit to your credit cards.  Notice that in their photo of the men’s wallet, it actually fits like a wallet should, right in the back pocket. This product line did their research and it shows.

Myabetic is launching in January 2010, so if you want to be up on this brand from the get go, you can become a fan of them on Facebook, as their website won’t go live until the brand launches in a few short months. The Facebook site also has images of all their coming products, so you can pick out your favorites now. I’m loving this product line for what they stand for: Sierra Interior Inserthelping you integrate diabetes into living your life, without restrictions (or ugly medical supply kits). Also pretty cool? A portion of their proceeds go to the American Diabetes Association to fund research for a cure. Diggin it!Men's Wallet[1].Pants Pocket
