I Run On Insulin turns 1!

It’s been almost one year to the day since I first started this blog, and I am amazed at how quickly it’s flown by. Just one year ago, the light bulb went off in my head with the idea that I wanted to be part of the amazing online community that has been there for me so many times. I bought the domain name, loaded up WordPress, and BOOM. Just like that, a whole new world was opened up to me – full of more inspiration, motivation, and commiseration than I could have ever imagined. The world of dia-bloggers is a truly unique and remarkable support system.

When I decided to go on a pump in 2008 after 15 years on injections, I went online for advice. I didn’t call my doctor or sales rep, I instead reached out through the internet to find real patients; to hear their stories and see how products fit in to real lives. It was then that I discovered that there were thousands of people like me. People who live full, active lives, travel the world, play sports, fall in love, have children, get lows, battle highs and do everything they want to do, with diabetes. The online community has given me more support and hope than I could have ever imagined, and starting my blog has been the best way to continue connecting with amazing people.

In honor of celebrating my first year as an official blogger, I want to give a shout out to the blogs and social networks that inspired me to start my own website. These folks have been there for me countless times, whether they knew it or not. They’ve helped me laugh on days when all I want to do is cry, they’ve offered tips that help me achieve goals I never thought possible, and most amazingly, they get it. Thank you to the diabetes online community, I am so thankful and proud to be amongst all of you!

And thank you for inspiring me and letting me know I’m not alone dealing with all of this.
