My birthday yesterday was nothing short of fabulous: flowers, concert tickets, Starbucks cards and donations to the ADA were among the amazing gifts I received (do my friends know me or WHAT?) Great food was also a large part of the day, and I spared no bolus to power my way through those meals. On my special day, I allowed myself to throw caution to the wind and let the carbs flow. Indulging in my faves and watching the insulin totals creep up made me think about all the foods that I make occasional allowances for: its The Bolus-Worthy List, and only my true favorites make it. 6.) Kraft Mac n’ Cheese – you know what blue box I’m talking about….
5.) Stone Pale Ale – no one does an IPA like Stone.
4.) PF Changs Spicy Chicken noodle soup – 75 grams of carb but more addictive than crack
3.) The BBQ chopped salad from CPK…salad you ask? Check the nutrition info: 101.9 carbs. For real. In a SALAD! But so good….
2.) A “Bad Boy” bagel from Lenny’s Bagels in NYC, with scallion cream cheese (warning: don’t breath on anyone for a few hours after that one!)
1.) The baked pasta from my stepmom’s restaurant. Let me put it this way: shell pasta, gorgonzola, pancetta, and leeks, topped with breadcrumbs and baked in a wood fired oven. UN. REAL. And yes, that’s what I had for dinner on my birthday
