Just a wee bit lower would have been awesome…
Been running literally between 153 and 174 for SIX hours, including lunch and when I lowered my basals before working out. Then, an hour spin class pushes me through the 200s….let me say that again: spin class made me go up? Is this the same class I needed two GU packs just to avoid a low in last week? ‘Betes, you make no sense. But I already knew that.

I also found intense cycling (spinning classes, climbing sprints) can raise BG while long steady riding lowers it. Made no sense until I read this: “But intense exercise can … actually increase your blood glucose levels. The body recognizes intense exercise as a stress and releases stress hormones that tell your body to increase available blood sugar to fuel your muscles. If this happens to you, you may need a little bit of insulin after intense workouts.” More scientific here: http://tinyurl.com/daxb5e When we did the TDC 30 mile route as a training ride last month, I tested at the midpoint and was higher than at the start. Julio said to eat anyway, as the rest of the ride would bring it back down as I used the glucose for fuel.
Makes no sense, but did ‘betes ever make sense to you?!? Obviously with T1 and T2 the mechanisms and biofeedback are different, but the principle still is similar – ‘betes is a WTF fool
